Lahaul
Lahaul is a beautiful region across Rohtang Pass lying at a height of 4,111 meters (13,400 ft.) and it is accessed by one of the world’s highest jeepable roads. The road leads to areas beyond Keylong (117 kilometers from Manali). From Manali travel northward and cross past Vashishta sulphur springs and Brighu Lake. Lahaul plateau is gets life and nourishment from Chandra and Bhaga rivers. Lahaul is dry and cold and is enclosed by high mountains on all sides (the Great Himalayas in the north, the Pir Panjal in the South and the Spiti-Chandra watershed in the east.) It is higher and colder than Pangi valley dotted by many glaciers and high peaks in Lahaul. The biggest glacier is Bara Shigri. The road begins from Rahalla falls and gives you access to Lahaul by the Rohtang Pass. It goes through Khoksar and reaches Keylong and Baralacha-La. Enjoy the mighty splendor of Himalayas from Lahaul. The barren landscape that is sparsely vegetated offers a magnificent charm to a bleak landscape. The local folk with slant Mongol eyes, prominent cheek bones and cheerful smiles give warm welcome to the visitors.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Delhi - Manali
Transfer to Palam Domestic airport to board flight IC-475 to Kullu at 0900 hours and reach Kullu (Bhuntar airport) at 1030 hrs. Travel from Bhuntar airport to Manali and check into Hotel Holiday Inn or any other hotel. Post lunch drive down to Manali town for exploring the town on your own. Have an overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Manali - Rohtang Pass - Manali
Post morning breakfast drive to Rohtang Pass for sight seeing and adapt to the climate. Return by lunch time and explore the area at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Manali
Manali, as far legend goes, was created when waters of The Great Deluge receded and the seventh Manu’s ark rested on a hillside of this beautiful valley. The earth started drying up and thus was born a place of breathtaking beauty aptly named after the great sage. In the last decade Manali has evolved from a simple Himachali town to a vibrant tourist destination filled with as many as 400 hotels. It is the centre of a flourishing orchard industry and is the perfect place for honeymoon. The area is well known for numerous treks.

Day 3: Manali - Rohtang Pass - Batal
Post breakfast drive over Rohtang Pass to reach Batal. By lunchtime reach Batal. In the evening you are free to do anything. Have an overnight stay in tents.

Rohtang Pass
Rohtang Pass lies at a distance of 51 kilometers from Manali town at an altitude of 4,111 meters (13,400 ft.). It is on the highway to Keylong. The majestic mountains stand in its splendor. At the top of the Pass you can see glittering snow and looking down over herringboned ridges into the Lahaul Valley is an amazing experience. A beautiful Doshohar Lake lie to the left of the pass. It is a pilgrim site where people gather on the auspicious day of 20th Bhadon. Rohtang Pass serves as the sole access point to Lahaul valley. The pass remains open from June to September each year although one can trek earlier. Rohtang pass is the gateway to Lahaul valley alike Zojila pass in between the valley of Kashmir and Ladakh.

Batal
Batal lying at the foot of Kunzum pass is the main access route to Spiti from Lahaul. The view from the top of the pass is breathtaking and enthralling. On the way one can find Bara Shigri glaciers (Bara means big and Shigri means glacier in Lahauli dialect). The view of the Shigri Stream coming out from an archway of solid ice is a breathtaking sight. Behind the archway is the Shigri glacier that rises to a great height. The glacier is 1 kilometer wide and spreads over a distance of ten kilometers.

Day 4: Batal - Kunzum Pass - Chander Tal
Post breakfast drive 10 kilometers to Kunzum Pass and start trekking a distance of 12 kilometers to reach Chander Tal. It is a pleasant 4 hrs walk. Stay overnight in tents.

Kunzum Pass (4551 m)
110 kilometers from Manali lies Kunzum which provides entry route to Lahaul valley by the Kunzum range. The mighty Shigri Glacier stands in front in all its grandeur. The crest of the pass is characterized by chorten of stones erected several years back. The view from the top of the Pass is beautiful. There is a temple dedicated to Kali called Kunzum Devi. The name Lahaul has been taken from Rahul, the son of Buddha.

Chander Tal
Chander Tal (meaning the Lake of Moon) is an exquisitely beautiful lake set on a wide meadow of edelweiss. The lake lies between a lower ridge and the main Kunzum range which has an outlet into Chandra River. You will enjoy the beautiful view of the Samudra Tapoo glacier and Mulkila range. This majestic and serene lake is enclosed by magnificent Himalayan peaks. The large meadow is an ideal camping site on the shore of the lake. During spring time the meadow gets covered by several kinds of wild alpine flowers.

Day 7: Chander Tal - Kunzum Pass - Manali
After early morning breakfast trek back to Kunzum Pass and take a return drive to Manali and reach the place by late evening. Check into Hotel Holiday Inn and spend the night.

Day 8: Manali - Delhi
Transfer to Bhuntar airport to board flight no. IC 475 to Delhi at 1110 hrs and arrive Delhi at 1240 hrs. Proceed to the hotel.
