 Day 20: Guwahati-Kaziranga National Park

Begin the most interesting part of the Kaziranga Wildlife Tour Itinerary as you drive to the National Park with the Tour representative. Check in at a hotel or a forest lodge just on the outskirts of Kaziranga. Spend the day relaxing.
Kaziranga National Park is situated in Jorhat Nawgaon district of Assam. The Kaziranga National Park was declared as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1985 and the jungle sprawls on an area of 430 square kilometers of dense jungle greens. Bound by Mikir Hills in the South and flanked by River Brahmaputra river on the north, Kaziranga was accorded the status of a National Park in the year 1974. The entire park is covered with semi- evergreen forests, highlands, marshes, rivulets, and extensive plains cloaked in tall elephant grass.
Kaziranga is famous for the one-horned rhino. In fact the main reason why the region was declared as a reserve forest in the year 1908 was to create a protected region for the endangered one-horned rhino. There are more than 1000 rhinos at the Kaziranga National Park, Assam, India.
Besides the rhino you are likely to spot other wild animals such as swamp buffaloes, barking deer, civet cat, wild boar, Hoolock gibbons, pythons, hog deer, sambar, tigers and a large number of marsh birds.

Day 21: Kaziranga National Park
