Day 16 : Kanha – Pench

Day 17 : Pench
Set out on exciting Jeep safaris into the interiors of the Pench National Park, Central India.
The Pench Tiger Reserve nestles in the lower reaches of the Satpura hills. The Tiger reserve gets its name from the River Pench, which flows from north to south through the Pench National Park. Conveniently located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh, the Pench National Park became a part of the Project Tiger in the year 1992.
The Pench National Park covers an area of 758 square kilometers. Covered with tropical moist deciduous forests that mingle with tropical dry deciduous teak jungles, Pench offers the perfect habitat for wild animals like tigers and leopards. The entire park is covered with a network of sparkling waters, forest streams or nullahs where animals meet for a drink of water or an occasional bath.
Spot animals such as leopards, Sambar, nilgai, Cheetal, Jackals, Dholes, Sloth Bears, Langurs, and Rhesus Monkeys. Areas such as Chhedia, Jamtara, Bodanala and Pyorthadi, Turia, Telia and Dudhgaon villages are perfect points within the Pench National Park where you get to spot wild animals.
Commonly seen birds at Pench National Park are Peafowl, Red jungle fowl, Crow pheasant, Crimson breasted barbet, Redvented bulbul, Racket tailed drongo, Magpie robin and lesser whistling teal.
Flora at Pench National Park is a combination of tropical dry deciduous teak and southern tropical mixed deciduous forests with other species of shrubs, trees and climbers. Species such as teak, moyan, mahua, mokha, skiras, tendu, bija, achar, garari, aonla, ghont, baranga, amaltas, kihamali, khair, palas and bamboo can be spotted easily.
